How CopyShield detection works
No black box. Here's exactly what we scan, how we score, and what we can't see โ so you can judge every alert yourself.
What we scan, and how often
- eBay โ official Buy Browse API, daily. Etsy โ official Listings API, daily.
- AliExpress โ official Affiliate API (or verified page data), daily. Poshmark โ public listing pages, daily.
- Apple App Store โ Apple's public Search API, daily. Google Play โ public search pages, daily.
- Amazon โ best-effort: Amazon defends aggressively against automated access. When we can't reach it, your dashboard says "waiting" โ never "all clear". Our Brand Registry guide is the durable Amazon path.
How a listing gets flagged
Five signals, all explainable, all shown on every alert:
- Brand-name match โ your brand name (and keywords you add) as a standalone word in the listing title. "Apple" never matches "pineapple".
- Replica language โ explicit words like "replica", "1:1", "AAA quality" score high; "inspired by"-style derivatives score as review-level.
- Price anomaly โ compared against your actual product catalog (learned from your official site), not a guess. A $39 listing of your $299 product flags hard.
- Unknown product โ your brand name on something you don't sell, per your catalog.
- Seller risk โ seller names matching replica patterns, or one seller listing many unrelated brands.
Conservative by design. Every signal is tuned for precision over recall โ we'd rather miss a borderline case than spam you. Risk levels are "High risk" or "Review", never a fake-precision numeric score on individual listings. Sellers you allowlist are never flagged again.
What we can't see
- Login-walled shops (TikTok Shop monitoring), private groups, and direct messages.
- Marketplaces that block automated access (Temu, SHEIN, Wish, Mercari) โ we still prepare filing packs for their official IP portals, but we don't claim to monitor them.
- Whether a listing is legally infringing โ that's a judgment call for you (or your attorney). We surface suspects with evidence; you decide and file.
Your data
We store your brand name, email, keywords, scan results, and filing counts โ only what's needed to run the watch. Nothing is sold or shared. Export or delete everything anytime from your dashboard. Filing reports to marketplaces is always done by you, as the rights owner.
